Hyrule Castle is pretty intimidating. Unlike in Breath of the Wild though, you can’t just walk in from the start of the game. It’s risen up into the sky which presents the first hurdle to getting the Champion’s Tunic in Tears of the Kingdom.

This is going to be simple though if you take the right route. If you head to the closest Tower, which is by the first settlement you reach in the game, you can get there pretty fast. Propel upwards from this tower and start floating in the general direction of Hyrule Castle.

It might surprise you how little stamina you actually need to reach the castle. Although it could be wise to cook a few stamina restoring items if you’ve not conquered too many of the Shrines for upgrades just yet. If you begin to glide at maximum height, you’ll easily cross over the top of Hyrule Castle. Once you’re positioned above it, drop in. Aim for the highest building at the very top of the castle. If you’ve played any Zelda games before this, you’ll know what to do. Just light them. Do this by starting a little wood floor and grabbing a torch, or the old-fashioned way with fire arrows.

Once you do this, a secret compartment will open up behind the thrones themselves.

Once the secret compartment opens up, you can jump into it to find a chest. In this chest is the Champion’s Tunic! Now renamed the Champion’s Leathers. That’s thanks to some adjustments that have been made by Zelda in-between games to make it a bit more reinforced. Once you have the Tunic, you’re free to head out. Although, there is plenty more loot for you to discover in Hyrule Castle and a Shrine to make travel a bit easier in future.

Once you’ve got the Champion’s Tunic in Tears of the Kingdom, you can get Link looking just like his Breath of the Wild self. It doesn’t quite give him the classic Zelda look though, which is a different set of armor. You’ll also need to go through other steps to get Epona in TOTK or the Hylian Shield.
