The time has finally arrived. Not only did we get a brand new expansion, but we also got a brand new core set with the new Year of the Hydra. While there hasn’t been that much time to test out all the new crazy cards and interactions, there are a few things that definitely caught our eye.
Nagas. Nagas everywhere!
Even if the expansion is themed around Nagas, the infamous creatures from the Warcraft lore, we definitely didn’t expect everyone to run them, especially considering how strong the previous expansions were with the quest and hero cards. However, even if it is too early to tell if all the Naga decks are worthy of being called the Hearthstone top decks, they are certainly a menace in some classes.
We had quite a lot of fun playing the Naga Mage deck, which is pretty much a jack of all trades at this point. There are so many ways that you can cheat out a ton of value by playing naga and spells in the correct order. The star of the show, not only Naga Mage, definitely has to be the School Teacher. This insane 4 mana 5/4 adds a 1/1 to your hand, which will cast a 3 or less spell that you thought was insane.
Goblins VS Gnomes feels are back!
It has been quite a while since we had such an incredible swarm of mechs in the decks, but we are glad they are back. We had a bit of fun trying out the Mech Mage deck as well as the Mech Paladin, and while we are not sure if they will stand the test of time as players perfect their decks, we think they are quite good, and most importantly, fun to play.
Reno is back!
For all of you who love esports betting, once the competitive games begin to be cast, we have one good suggestion for you, and that is to always bet on the player with a deck that runs Reno Jackson. While playing against this card is probably one of the most frustrating things to do, especially for the lovers of aggro, when you get to slam down Reno and get that juicy +29 heal on your hero to then turn the game around, it is one of the best feelings Hearthstone has to offer.
How does the new season compare to before?
It might be too early to tell, but the season does spice things up a bit, as there seems to be more board interaction for certain decks. Of course, there are still crazy OTK interactions such as buffing smite as Paladin, going face with the new Demon Hunter legendary Lady S’theno, or milling out the deck with Warlock, thanks to Selfish Shellfish. We are quite excited to see all the interesting interactions that players come up with in the following few weeks, at least before the nerf hammers start being dropped on the overpowered cards.
