Microsoft is buying Activision-Blizzard, one of the most popular video game companies in the world.

The acquisition amount is reportedly worth $69 billion in an all-cash deal.

This move comes as Microsoft (alongside many other tech giants) are focusing their efforts on Metaverse-related technologies that are expected to grow significantly in the future.

Activision-Blizzard already has a very strong fanbase thanks to its their games Warcraft, Starcraft, Overwatch, Call of Duty, and Diablo.

Microsoft too has a sizable video game operation under Xbox, and the purchase of Activision-Blizzard would further bolster the company’s market dominance.

Upon completion of the merger, Microsoft will become the world’s third-largest gaming company by revenue, just behind China’s Tencent and Japan’s Sony.
