EDG have exceeded expectations once again by defeating T1 in the revenge match and securing Playoffs as the first Chinese squad in VALORANT
EDward Gaming are continuing their Cinderella story at Masters Tokyo with back-to-back upsets. “We will perform ten times better against them (T1) in tomorrow’s match.” – the promise by KangKang has been well kept as the team looked even more powerful in this decider series. With this one, they are the first Chinese squad to make it to the Playoffs of a global VALORANT tournament.
Unlike the close series against NAVI, this match was a show of domination from EDG, with the first map ending in a 13-4 score where their star player Zheng “ZmjjKK” Yongkang secured an ACS of 305 with a 19-11 K-D.

T1 got slaughtered in the second map as well, as Haven’s first half ended 10-2 in EDG’s favor. Even though the South Koreans tried to make a comeback in the attacking half, the match eventually ended 13-6. ZmjjKK looked even better this time, having 23-13 K-D with 340 ACS.

This victory was a rematch between the South Koreans and EDG, and their first game in Tokyo ended in a close 2-1 victory for T1. According to EDG’s coach Lo “AfteR” Wen-hsin, the team wasn’t in its best form in the opening game, and this time, the Bo3 was heavily one-sided in the Chinese squad’s favor.

Alongside ZmjjKK (KangKang), Shijun “Muggle” Tang and Wan “CHICHOO” Shunzhi from the team had great moments in the three matches of the Group Stage. It will be highly exciting to watch KangKang going against some of the best global Jett players in the Playoffs, especially names like Erick “aspas” Santos from LOUD and FNATIC’s Nikita “Derke” Sirmitev.
