Valve Drops New CS2 Update

Owen “smooya” Butterfield claims that CS2 will not roll out before October

Player-turned-streamer Owen “smooya” Butterfield has dropped a bombshell, claiming that CS2 will not roll out before October. The former BIG and Fnatic AWPer revealed that sources have told him that Valve plans to launch CS2 right after the ESL Pro League Season 18 ends.

smooya shared the information during the most recent episode of HLTV Confirmed, which is a weekly podcast by HLTV.org. The episode also featured notable broadcaster Chad “SPUNJ” Burchill, Zvonimir “Professeur” Burazin, who is HLTV’s Head of Operations, and Milan “Striker” Švejda, who is the Editor in Chief at HLTV.

Striker supported smooya’s claims, stating that he had heard something similar. According to Striker, the CS2 beta will reach its seventh month in October, and he believes that this amount of testing time is adequate before the full release.

Valve has confirmed its intention to release the upcoming version of Counter-Strike during the summer, although an exact release date has not been specified. The game entered its beta phase on March 22, gradually granting access to more players and unveiling new features over time. With each new update, the game appears to be more refined, but there are still some flaws that need to be ironed out.

In the CS2 limited-test beta version, players can only access the Mirage map. When the beta initially dropped, Dust2 was the only playable map, which recently got replaced by Mirage. The game, however, is still lacking various modes and features.

When the full release finally arrives, we can look forward to a diverse selection of maps, modes, and features, delivering a significantly enriched gameplay experience.
