LA Galaxy striker Chicharito joins Complexity Stars.

Javier “Chicharito” Hernández is the newest member of Complexity Gaming, the soccer star announced today. The LA Galaxy player and Mexico’s all-time leading scorer is an avid gamer who regularly broadcasts his gameplay on the Twitch streaming platform. Known on Twitch as “CH14,” Hernandez possesses more than 600K followers on Twitch, where he plays mostly Call of Duty: Warzone.

The renowned athlete has become the first official soccer player to join the Complexity Stars division. Complexity announced this initiative geared toward celebrities in November, welcoming the likes of  NBA Champion J.R. Smith and UFC stars Sean O’Malley and Max Holloway. Now, Hernàndez adds himself to the fold alongside many fellow athletes.

Chicharito Goes Esports

Hernàndez announced his commitment to Complexity alongside the organization itself and its co-owner Tim “TimTheTatman” Betar. The revelation included a video that depicted the soccer star answering questions in a press conference format.

“This spring, I’ll be bringing my talents to Complexity Stars,” Hernàndez stated. The video then rolled clips of the player’s on-field and Warzone highlights. In an official press release, Chicharito commented further on his decision:

“Gaming has always been a passion of mine, and by signing with Complexity Stars, I’ll be able to create content and host events to better engage with my fans off the pitch. Complexity has a rich history in gaming and esports, and after seeing their commitment to developing talent and fostering opportunities for athletes to organically grow with the space, I knew it would be a perfect fit.”

Complexity Continues Exponential Growth

It’s another impressive move by Complexity, who just recently added Twitch streamer Dennis “Cloakzy” Lepore as a co-owner and content creator. Complexity Stars continues to grow alongside the Texas-based brand. The initiative’s head — Duane “Zeno” Jackson — spoke to the signing of Chicharito:

“Since he was 18, Chicharito’s fanbase has watched him dominate the football pitch. As the worlds of gaming and traditional sports continue to collide, Complexity Stars has given athletes a platform to connect with fans in new ways. And now Chicharito will be able to leverage the program to captivate the next generation of fans where they’re consuming content.”

There’s no stop in sight for Complexity, which continues making waves in the esports industry. The organization has a solid foundation to build from and a slew of talent to make sure that happens.
