Atlanta FaZe vs Seattle Surge Preview and Predictions: Call of Duty League Championship 2023

Atlanta FaZe vs Seattle Surge pits the strongest team of the regular season against the weakest – does Surge have a chance?

Only 8 teams remain in the 2023 Call of Duty League, as Florida Mutineers, Las Vegas Legion, Los Angeles Guerrillas and London Royal Ravens didn’t get enough points to qualify for the CDL Champs of the Modern Warfare II season. This fact almost became a sad reality for Seattle Surge as well, which barely managed to get the 8th and last place of the Championship – but how far will Pred and co. make it?

Atlanta FaZe vs Seattle Surge Preview

Atlanta FaZe

  • Tyler “aBeZy” Pharris
  • McArthur “Cellium” Jovel
  • Chris “Simp” Lehr
  • Austin “SlasheR” Liddicoat

They might not make it that far, as the first opponent Seattle Surge has to face is the best team of the regular season, Atlanta FaZe. The Tiny Terrors, Cellium and SlasheR managed to get the first spot of the Champs seeding, even though they only won one Major back in Stage 2, beating Los Angeles Thieves 4-2 in the finals. While they couldn’t replicate that success, their worst finish was 6th, and only in the Major 2 and Major 4 Qualifiers – they always made it to top 3 in the Majors.

They are virtually unbeatable in Search and Destroy, as they have only lost 19 matches out of 65 played. While their Hardpoint and Control winrate is around 50%, they can go into series with an easy mindset as they know SnD is a likely point for them.

Seattle Surge

  • Lamar “Accuracy” Abedi
  • Makenzie” Mack” Kelley
  • Amer “Pred” Zulbeari
  • Daunte “Sib” Gray

The squad of Seattle Surge have nosedived after the Stage 1 Major: they managed to turn their luck around at the start of the year after finishing 11th in the Qualifiers, but still making it to the finals. However, Pred and co. couldn’t even get close to that, as other than a Stage 3 Major Qualifiers 1st place and a Stage 4 Major Qualifiers 3rd place, they barely made it to the upper half of the standings.

Atlanta FaZe vs Seattle Surge The roster of Surge

This is a surprising fact, as Seattle Surge have a 38-29 record on Hardpoint and a 21-18 record on Control, which are not exceptional, but should mean that they ranked higher than they did – sadly, Surge tend to fail in key showdowns.

Atlanta FaZe vs Seattle Surge Predictions

Atlanta FaZe and Seattle Surge have faced each other 6 times this year, and while Surge managed to beat FaZe 3-0 once and 3-2 another time, Simp and his teammates found success in the other 4 matches. Additionally, Surge has a horrible winrate on Search and Destroy, which is Atlanta’s strongest suite, so they are already at a disadvantage even though the match takes place in a few days – they would need a miracle to beat FaZe.
