Atomic Heart

Atomic Heart, a first-person shooter role-playing game developed by Mundfish, will be released next month, but what happened to its multiplayer mode, let us find that out further down below.

Atomic Heart immerses players in a peaceful world of humans and robots. The once-utopian world suddenly became much more dangerous after a tragic accident in which superpowered robots overthrew humans.

To defeat the new lethal threat that threatens the world, players will need to use a wide array of weapons and combat skills that they will need to level up and perfect. Mundfish had been working on a player-versus-player mode for Atomic Heart previously.

Will there be multiplayer in Atomic Heart?

According to a recent Q&A with Atomic Heart’s director Robert Bagratuni published on Wccftech, the game’s previously planned multiplayer mode has been scrapped.

Bagratuni has stated, “The entire Atomic Heart experience will be single-player, focusing on the story and player experience.

The developers have stated that there are no future plans for any multiplayer expansions.

There has been a lot of time spent on Atomic Heart’s development, so it stands to reason that some things will have changed. Bagratuni commented on the game’s extensive development time by saying,

“Our unwanted delay can be attributed to youth, ambition, innovation, and new technology! During the development process, we made the tough choice to abandon some ideas, even very big ones, like multiplayer. It was painful to have to make those kinds of choices, but it was the right decision.”

The release date for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC versions of Atomic Heart are set for February 21st, 2023.
