Heroes of Newerth close down MEGPlay

Heroes of Newerth, a popular MOBA game developed as a spinoff from the original Dota 1, will be closing down next year.

According to the developers, HoN will eventually be shut down in June 2022.

“Even though the journey of HoN or Heroes of Newerth has come to an end, we believe that all the valuable memories of our players through all these years will never fade away. It’s all those little moments with you that I love the most. Enjoy the last moments of HoN together!”

Lots of upcoming Heroes of Newerth in-game events

Until its closure, the development team will be running a slew of events to thank players who showed their loyal support by sticking around.

Some of these events include Silver Coin multipliers, an increase to Plinko Drop rates, and premium-only products made available with in-game currencies.

Heroes of Newerth is over 10 years old

Heroes of Newerth has been around for over 10 years, having launched as a beta in April 2009 before fully rolled out on May 12th, 2010.

The game received positive reception in its early days, peaking at 150,000 concurrent players in May 2013.

The game’s player-base slowly withered as newer entrants like League of Legends and Dota 2 entered the scene.
