LEC-Spring-Split

It’s that time of year again, boys and girls! The all-new season of competitive League of Legends is just about to start. All major regions kick off relatively soon and we’re here to cover the European show. League of Legends Championship Series, more commonly known as LEC, starts on January 14th and is going to bring forward the usual league-like competition. There are already plenty of 2022 LEC Spring Split betting options to explore, so let’s cut the intro short here and focus on the stuff that actually matters!

2022 LEC Spring Split Betting Preview – Key Facts

  • As mentioned earlier, the 2022 LEC Spring Split starts on January 14th. It’s the same date as LCS Lock-In event, so make sure you write it down!
  • Outright winner betting odds for this event are already available on numerous League of Legends betting websites.
  • Besides outrights, you can already bet on match-winners too, despite the fact there’s still ten days to go until the first clashes.
  • Fnatic and Vitality are the main favorites coming into the Spring Split. But, there won’t be any lack of proper contenders. Teams like MAD Lions, G2, and Rogue look like proper dark horses!

LEC Spring Split Format and Schedule

Take everything you read here with a pinch of salt as we’re speculating based on previous LEC iterations. With that in mind, here’s what you need to know:

Ten participants will fight off against each other in a double round robin format. All matches are bo1 (best of one), with only the top six teams qualifying for Spring Split playoffs. The top four teams go straight in to the winners’ bracket, while the bottom two teams (5th and 6th) start from the losers’ bracket where there won’t be any room for errors.

Here are the participants:

  1. Astralis
  2. Excel
  3. Fnatic
  4. G2
  5. MAD Lions
  6. Misfits
  7. Rogue
  8. SK Gaming
  9. Team BDS
  10. Vitality

2022 LEC Spring Split Betting Favorites and Outright Winner Odds

Before we go any further, here’s a quick look at the outright winner betting odds for 2022 LEC Spring Split:

Team Odds
Vitality +200
Fnatic +200
MAD Lions +450
G2 Esports +500
Rogue +600
Excel +2500
Misfits +2500
Astralis +5000

As mentioned earlier, Vitality and Fnatic are the main favorites here and the odds perfectly reflect that. Esports bookmakers see them as the rightful title contenders and nothing can change that… and here’s why:

Vitality

Vitality-logoThis year’s LEC is going to be more intense than ever. We have two top-flight teams, Vitality and Fnatic, without anything that can concretely separate them. They’re followed by two more teams, each with massive aspirations for the upcoming Spring Split, G2 and MAD Lions. Rogue are not to be taken for granted either – all of them are bound to traverse into the playoffs… and realistically speaking, anything and everything will happen in the first bo3s.

Vitality are, in my books, the prime favorites here! They’ve had it with being a middle-of-the-pack team season in and season out. They finally splurged some money to get world-class upgrades and look absolutely packed with talent.

Obviously, Perkz and Alphari are the brightest LEC stars returning from LCS. Though their bot lane might prove to be the weakest link, Vitality have plenty of firepower everywhere else. They have star players which are known for effortless snowballing – if they can do that often enough, Vitality will go far into the playoffs, that’s for sure!

Fnatic

Fnatic had a tough Summer Split last year. They were getting beaten by weaker teams left and right, barely managing to squeeze into the playoffs. But, once they got there, they turned things around and upped their performances. They did get beaten by MAD Lions in the end, but it was only after what was a brilliant comeback run in the playoffs. They will need more such performances in 2022 LEC Spring Split, that’s certain!

The question now is – which team is better, Fnatic or Vitality? Well, it’s difficult to say, really. There’s nothing separating them, so I’m afraid we’ll have to wait and see their first regular season clashes. Even them, though, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a tie. Basically, we better hope these two meet late into the playoffs and show off all of their untapped potential!

G2

G2 logoLet’s not forget about G2. Their first season without Perkz was a weird one. They did struggle at times, but not nearly as much as most people had predicted. They finished Spring Split in first place, though they failed to reach the playoffs grand finals. Their Summer Split story had much of the same plot – second place in regular season, but two tough losses in the playoffs left them without anything notable to write home about.

G2 continues to build their roster around caPs and Jankos, two world-class players. However, if we start comparing their overall roster to the likes of Vitality and Fnatic, it becomes clear that G2’s bot lane could be a liability. Hopefully Flakked and Targamas will prove us wrong.

MAD Lions

MAD LionsNext up – MAD Lions! The best European team last year are ready for another season of glory hunting! They were the absolute sensation last year, winning both Spring and Summer playoffs and reaching the MSI semifinals.

Obviously, it’s going to be really tough to defend their LEC titles this season. Yes, they still have their core; Elyoya, Armut, and Kaiser, but it’s going to difficult without Humanoid and Carzzy. I’m not saying their new arrivals, Reeker and Unforgiven aren’t up for the challenge… all I’m saying is that this MAD Lions roster probably won’t be at the same level as last year. I’d love to see them prove me wrong, though, but I doubt it will happen.

Misfits

Misfits-logoNow let’s say a couple of words about Misfits! They did reach playoffs last summer, but didn’t really look like strong contenders overall, despite going to five games against Fnatic. HiRit and Vetheo are not to be taken for granted, though I reckon they’ll have to keep contributing 120% if Misfits are to reach the playoffs once again.

Overall, though, I don’t think the current Misfits roster will manage to reach the playoffs. It’s just too distant, especially considering the competition. They’re going to be close to it, though, with nuances bound to decide their fate. Rogue, Misfits, MAD Lions – LEC regular season will be an absolute blast not just in terms of the title race but playoffs race as well!

Rogue

And finally, Rogue! They had a wonderful season last year, placing second and third overall. It was a surprising year for Rogue; a year that saw them just inches away from LEC glory.

Malrang and Comp are the new names. Malrang will be their jungler while Comp will play ADC to Trymbi’s support. Both represent big unknowns coming into the Spring Split. They have potential, that’s for sure, but we’ll have to wait and see just how much synergy they’ll have with the rest of the team.

On the bright side, the likes of Odoamne, Larssen and Trymbi form a quality core for years to come… assuming Odoamne extends his contract beyond this season. All in all, if Rogue’s new arrivals can prove themselves early on in the regular season, we could see them stand their ground against much stronger opponents.

These are the most notable contenders and the teams you should further explore if you find 2022 LEC Spring Split betting interesting. There’s plenty of time for you to do thorough research, so make sure you don’t make any half-baked bets!

May the odds be in your favor!
