Fortnitemares might be coming to an end, but more new content has been added in its place. The Fortnite V22.30 patch has hit the game. It has brought new skins, a new crossover, and even fresh free cosmetics that you can unlock.
The new update is bringing back some fun past content. Some of the Star Wars stuff is coming into the game alongside some much-requested skins from the franchises. There’s also Rick and Morty content and changes to the game’s competitive side balance ahead of a huge tournament.

Fortnite V22.30 Patch Notes
Skywalker Week
The big headline event for the new update is Skywalker Week. This is a special event that’s running alongside new skins being added to the game. These themed “weeks” were a common event towards the end of last season. It usually brings back some specific content around a theme, like Bow week bringing back bows. This time, it’s Skywalker week or Star Wars week once again. Although, this one is a bit more focused than some other themed weeks.
New Star Wars skins have been added to the game for the Fortnite V22.30 patch. Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo have all come to Fortnite! These are big ones. Alongside Vader from last Season’s Battle Pass, these characters are probably the most popular in the franchise and some of the most requested.
Epic is blowing through all of the original trilogy protagonists in a single week! To celebrate these skins coming to the come, some Star Wars content is also arriving in-game.
Luke Skywalker Skin in Fortnite V22.30
Each of the new Star Wars skins has a few different outfits. Luke has his two most iconic sets of clothes from the original trilogy and a hooded version of his black robe. He also features a rifle for a pickaxe and a training robot back bling.
The non-lightsaber pickaxes are always strange for Star Wars skins, but given that lightsabers are weapons in-game, it makes sense why Epic is forced to come up with things like a rifle that you only use to hit walls in their place.
Leia Skin
The Lei skin also features a few more outfits. There’s her most recognizable outfit and the disguise she uses in the opening act of Return of the Jedi. She also has a pickaxe and an R2D2 back bling.
Han Solo Skins
Han Solo will feature three skins in Fortnite VV22.30 too. It’ll include his main outfit from each film. Although one of them only has different coloured-trousers! He also has a Millennium Falcon back bling and a staff pickaxe.
Unvaulted Items in Fortnite V22.30 Patch
Skywalker week launching in Fortnite V22.30 is going further than just bringing some skins in. Some items have been brought back to the game with the update too.
The first item to make a return are lightsabers. These are a common occurrence in Fortnite, coming back fairly frequently. There are some specific lightsabers that are around this time, though. Luke’s blue and green lightsabers, along with Darth Vader’s lightsaber. Vader’s is keeping its ability to be thrown as a boomerang. They aren’t entirely balanced, but each lightsaber has the same powers they have had in the past.
Alongside lightsabers, there’s an E-11 Blaster rifle making a return. This was the weapon of choice for stormtroopers in the last season. It has unlimited ammo, but a cooldown, along with being effective at longer distances.
Junk Rifts are also back for Skywalker Week! This might seem a bit more random. However, there is a link. The junk rifts drop random things from the sky. In the latest update, Luke’s speeder has been added as a random item that can fall on players. It isn’t driveable, but it is a nice easter egg to commemorate the new skins in Fortnite V22.30
Chrome Punk Active
One long-awaited development in the Fortnite V22.30 update is Chrome Punk coming to the game finally. Players can complete some quests to receive the Chrome Punk cosmetics. These are the items you can unlock:
- Chromeseed Back Bling
- Graveyard Race Loading Screen
- Chrome Punk Outfit
Competitive Changes
A few changes have been made to the Fortnite competitive mode. This comes just ahead of the FNCS invitational. These are the competitive changes:
- Skywalker Week items not added to competitive playlists
- Hunter bolt-Action Sniper has been removed from comp.
- Explosive Goo Gun removed from Zero Build tournament
The new items being absent isn’t a huge surprise, and neither is the Goo Gun, as it is still a more experimental item. However, the sniper getting removed is a weird one. It is overpowered right now, easily sitting at the top of the Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 weapons tier list. It’ll be interesting to see how the competitive side of the game fares without this gun.
Fortnite V22.30 Bug Fixes
There are always a few bug fixes with each Fortnite update. There’s one major one that’s been sorted with this update. A little bug that saw reboot cards unable to get collected. This has been fixed and players should now be able to collect them.
Free Pickle Rick Cosmetic
One new questline has come with the recent update bringing even more free cosmetics into the game. This time, it’s another Rick and Morty item. A Pickle Rick back bling is being given away! Pickle Rick became something of a meme from the show. Largely owing to how unfunny the segment was and its catchphrase being spouted in some viral moments from devoted fans of the show. This back bling is going to be free!
To get the free cosmetic, you’ll need to complete some quests in the horde mode for Fortnite. Players can play through this mode to earn XP. Once they complete all eight quests, they’ll get the pickle Rick back bling.
