The 2023 Blast Premier Season may be a little while away yet, but that doesn’t mean that planning this huge multi-venue, global event is not already well underway.
And as part of that process, BLAST Premier has teamed up with the London based The Sports Consultancy (TSC) to manage an independent bidding process to allow for a variety of cities around the world to bid to host one of the big BLAST Premier events lined up for the 2023 season.
TSC has a history of working with potential host cities and for developing a market for events through cities bidding and the company and BLAST Premier have now opened the bidding process to be a venue in 2023.
What Happens In The Next Few Months?
Now that the bidding process has been formally opened, between now and August this year, TLC and BLAST will work together to sift through the cities that apply to host an event and to ensure that the global nature of the tournament remains a constant.
To enable cities to understand the positive aspects of holding an esports event, BLAST will also be hosting a number of workshops which will detail the positive aspects for a city of hosting top level esports tournaments like the BLAST Premier events.
These workshops will not just focus on what the host cities can offer the BLAST event organisers, but also the benefits that the city will get from hosting the event, including the financial benefit a city would get from an influx of esports fans keen to watch the event, explore the local area and have a wager with the companies offering esports betting.
In addition, BLAST is also looking at other ways to raise the profile of the BLAST Premier events including creating opportunities for a look behind-the-scenes at a BLAST Premier live event as well as opportunities to meet members of the BLAST team in-person at the events.
Seven Events To Find Host Cities For
As things stand, there are seven BLAST Premier events throughout the year, with just short of $2.5 million in prize money on the line across the seven tournaments.
The top teams in CSGO gaming regularly take part and qualify for these key events, which are an attractive focal point of the annual CSGO esports gaming season.
There are venues for the Spring and Fall Groups, Showdown and Finals to be sorted, as well as the biggest event of the year, the World Final, which features a $1,000,000 prize pool and which is ordinarily held in December each year.
BLAST Premier events have been competed for in a number of iconic venues over the years including Istanbul, Madrid, London, Copenhagen, Sao Paulo and Miami.
At the moment, interested cities are being asked to formally express their interest in hosting a BLAST Premier event in 2023 and while no announcements on venues are imminent, it is likely that once BLAST and TLC have completed the process in August, we will have a good idea of where the tournament will be heading in 2023.
