Back in May 2023, Thunderpick and Evil Geniuses announced that the esports betting provider would be a major sponsor of EG’s CSGO teams. Well, that deal has gone so well that the two organizations have agreed terms on expanding the current partnership deal. This updated deal will now include sponsorship of Evil Geniuses South American-based Dota 2 team.
The expansion of the deal sees one of the most prominent and popular Dota 2 betting sites expand their interests with a world-renowned esports team which will surely be of great interest to fans of Evil Geniuses and Dota 2 around the world.
Evil Geniuses’s Track Record in Dota 2 Esports
The deal will secure support for Evil Geniuses’ Dota 2 team. The roster was signed late on in 2022 after the completion of The International 11 and is made up of a number of quality players who have experience playing for several of the best Dota 2 teams in the world.
Based in South America, this team was Evil Geniuses’ first move into the South American esports arena and the team and its management staff all come from a variety of countries from that part of the world.
Evil Geniuses are also one of the Dota 2 teams competing in this year’s The International event (also referred to as TI 2023 and TI12) after having finished in 5th place in the Dota Pro Circuit, easily qualifying as one of the top 12 teams from DPC qualifying.
Notable performances include a first-place finish at the DPC SA Tour #3: Division 1 and a fourth-place finish at the ESL One Berlin Major.
Additionally, Evil Geniuses also became the first South American team to finish in the top four of a Dota 2 Major during the DPC season.
This shows that despite being a relatively new team, they are already amongst the best Dota 2 TI teams set to compete in the showpiece tournament later in the year.
