To incentivise more youth to become professional esports players.
Malaysia’s Finance Minister announced earlier today that the government will set aside US$5 million to develop esports talents within the country.
The statement was made during country’s Budget 2022 announcement.

Just recently, Malaysian Dota 2 player together with his team PSG.LGD walked away with $5.2 million in prize money after winning second place at the largest Dota 2 tournament, – The International 10.
The finance minister applauded him and his team’s performance, adding that plans to incentivize more players are in the works with the country’s new allocated esports budget.
