Our picks for which heroes are scheduled for buffs in the next patch.

Since Valve decided to release smaller but more frequent Dota 2 updates, the new patches do not have such a drastic effect on the meta. However, every new update includes many changes and fixes that always affect some heroes.

Speaking of metas, we are still playing on The International 11 patch, which favors a couple of heroes. Tundra Esports have learned how to “beat the meta” and used all sorts of things to win the biggest Dota 2 event. That said, the newest Dota 2 patch is probably just around the corner, and it will most likely include some important changes.

Even though we do not know what we’ll get, the hero stats following TI 11 could help us figure out some of the changes we can expect. So, let’s go through what we know.

We expect a lot of changes to Necrophos

The International 11 allowed us to watch every top-tier team in action. Naturally, the best Dota 2 clubs picked a wide range of heroes, so we got to see pretty much everything. That said, Necrophos became the only hero that did not appear in a single match.

Most of us were surprised that no one picked Necro because the hero is not that bad in pubs. Even though he has around a 49% win rate, it is still better than many other heroes that were picked all the time at TI.

Necrophos is an interesting hero that can fill in a couple of roles. Even though he is a popular mid-laner, professional teams have used him in the offlane and even as a position 1. That said, it seems like he is not that good in the current meta, which is why he is not among the preferred alternatives.

One of the potential changes that Valve might make to this hero is to add the buy-back cancel effect to his ult. In case you don’t remember, Necro’s ult used to remove the buy-back option several years ago, but it was removed because it was too strong. Adding this option back will definitely make him a popular pick.

Anti-Mage will most likely get better

A couple of late-game monsters in Dota 2 always find a way to shine, and Anti-Mage is undoubtedly among them. This hero is notorious for his fast-farming capabilities and the fact that he counters almost all INT heroes. Despite that, he was not that popular at The International 11 and only got the chance to shine in 2 games. What’s even more interesting is that players like Topson consider AM to be among the worst heroes in the game right now.

Despite all of the perks, AM has one big weakness — his early game. Sure, enemies can’t kill him that easily because he has a blink, but they can harass him a lot. AM is not good against aggressive offlaners, and since Undying is popular in the current meta, players prefer not to pick the carry.

Even though AM is not among the carries that receive that many changes, this might change with the upcoming update. Since he is one of the most popular heroes, Valve might make his early game slightly better by giving more STR or STR gain. This may not be enough to put him back in the meta, but it should positively impact his pick rate.

Nerfs to Visage

Visage has been one of the most dominant Dota 2 heroes prior to The International 11. Unsurprisingly, he also had a key role for many teams during TI 11 because he could easily win any mid-matchup and push towers.

That said, we believe that Visage will become a situational pick after the arrival of the new update because it will nerf many of his abilities. Every experienced Dota 2 player knows that the hottest meta-midders always get nerfed in the subsequent patch. The question is whether the nerfs will make him unplayable ot transfer him into the “situational picks” category.

Leshrac will most likely be affected feel the nerf hammer

If you’ve been playing Dota 2 for many years, you probably remember the TI 5 meta when Evil Geniuses won the event. Back then, Leshrac was the strongest hero in the game and no one found a way to deal with him. In fact, this was when he earned his nickname “disco pony”.

Unsurprisingly, once TI came to an end and the new patch arrived, Leshrac was nerfed to the ground. The hero became almost unplayable, and everyone forgot about him. That said, he made a comeback in the last year or so and became a crucial part of many team’s plans for TI 11. In fact, Leshrac was the most dominant midder, at least judging by the win rate.

While it is true that he is not as powerful as before, we wouldn’t be surprised if Valve decides to nerf some of his damage output. We expect changes to his ult because it is one of the things that allows him to be really dangerous at all stages of the game.

Tinker will receive buffs

The last thing we expect to see in the upcoming Dota 2 update that should take place soon is different buffs to Tinker. He has never been one of the popular options for professional Dota 2 players because he is hard to play and extremely fragile. However, the changes that removed March from the game definitely had a bad effect on the hero, and he became even less popular.

One of the things we expect to get is a new ability that will allow him to farm faster. Although his farming speed is not that bad compared to other midders, it can’t match the likes of Shadow Fiend or Leshrac.

Aside from the hero changes, Dota 2’s new update will provide us with loads of other changes, such as those related to the items. We also expect to see small map changes. Who knows, the game might offer us loads of new things!
