Dota 2 Templar Assassin Guide – Deal Bonus Damage with Refraction

Agility heroes are among the most picked heroes in the massively multiplayer game. These characters are built to farm more gold in lanes and chase enemy heroes for quick kills during battles. Templar Assassin – Deal Bonus Damage with Refraction

Templar Assassin is an Agility hero who can increase the damage dealt by physical attacks to gain an advantage in battles. The ranged hero can spill damage to enemy units positioned behind her targets to take out multiple creeps and heroes with ease. 

The carry hero can dish out Pure damage using her Psi Blades to destroy her opponents within a few hits. Templar Assassin has a base attack damage of 53 – 59, requiring her to take last hits carefully to avoid taking damage from incoming attacks in lanes while farming for gold. 

Dota 2 players who choose Templar Assassin can head toward the safe lane for additional gold at the start of the game. She has a range of 160 on her physical attacks after spawning, making it harder to attack enemy creeps in lanes before the first 5 minutes of the game. 

Templar Assassin can use Refraction to evade enemy attacks. Refraction provides a protective shield that protects Lanaya against incoming attacks for a limited number of attacks. Lanaya can dodge up to 3 attacks from enemy creeps, heroes, neutrals, and towers with Refraction at level one. She also gains a bonus damage of 25 for her next 3 attacks after using Refraction to fight enemy heroes in Dota 2. 

Taking Refraction at the beginning of a Dota 2 match can help players escape from enemy attacks without dying. People teaming up to collect Bounty Runes after a match is started can activate Refraction to avoid giving First Blood. The ranged hero has a base health of 620, needing players to activate Refraction frequently to sustain damage from enemy heroes. 

Refraction can be used to dodge incoming spells as well. Templar Assassin can enable Refraction immediately after being targeted by her opponents who try to nuke enemy heroes in a lane. Magical spells like Storm Hammer from Sven, Lucent Beam from Luna, and Magic Missile from Vengeful Spirit can easily be evaded in battles by turning on Refraction. 

A maxed out Refraction will protect Templar Assassin against 6 attacks from her enemies in Dota 2. Templar Assassin gains up to 85 bonus damage on her physical attacks using Refraction. The carry hero can use Refraction once every 17 seconds in a match. Refraction consumes up to 100 mana to be activated at level 4. The bonus damage granted by Refraction lasts for up to 17 seconds, giving adequate time for Templar Assassin to rest between battles. 

People can level up Psi Blades to deal Pure damage to enemy units with Templar Assassin. The Psi Blades can be used with Refraction to hit enemies with bonus damage from a distance. Templar Assassin gains bonus attack range by leveling up Psi Blades in Dota 2. Psi Blades provide a bonus attack range of 230 to Lanaya at level 4. All enemy units standing behind the targeted enemy unit in a radius of 700 will take 100% of the damage dealt by Templar Assassin. 

You can increase the attack range and spill range provided by Psi Blades by 120 after Templar Assassin reaches level 15 through the Talent Tree in Dota 2 games. The passive ability, Psi Blades, can be handy while farming in the safe lane. Templar Assassin can stack neutral creep camps over time in the safe lane to mitigate neutral creeps easily using Psi Blades. 

The carry hero can focus on leveling up before advancing toward enemy heroes for kills. The Talent Tree provides a number of boosts to Refraction that makes Templar Assassin a vicious hunter in the game. Lanaya gains an additional 25 damage from Refraction through the Talent Tree at level 10. Templar Assassin can use Refraction while being disabled at level 15. Refraction can guard Templar Assassin against an additional 7 instances of enemy attacks by reaching level 25 through the Talent Tree.  

Templar Assassin can use Meld to disappear from the sight of her enemies. She can remain invisible after using Meld till Templar Assassin attacks enemy units, uses magical spells, or moves from her concealed position. Enemy units hit by Templar Assassin hidden by Meld will take up to 200 bonus damage and have their armor reduced by 8 for 12 seconds. Meld has a cooldown of 5 seconds and requires 50 mana to be used in the game. 

You can use Refraction before turning on Meld to deal bonus damage to opponents while playing Templar Assassin in Dota 2. Meld can be used to dispel incoming spells by reaching level 20 with Templar Assassin. The carry hero can bash enemy units for a second through the Talent Tree after reaching level 25.   

The Agility hero can cast her ulti, Psionic Trap, to slow down enemy units in the game. Psionic Traps can be placed throughout the map to gain vision over enemy heroes. People can place a few Psionic Traps with Templar Assassin around the river to be able to pick up runes between battles in Dota 2. Runes, such as, Haste and Double Damage, can amplify the ability to kill enemy heroes while playing Templar Assassin. 

You can place a maximum of 11 Psionic Traps that can be used to decrease the movement speed of enemy heroes by up to 60%. Enemy units affected by Psionic Traps are slowed for 5 seconds and can take up to 350 damage. Psionic Traps have a cooldown of 5 seconds and needs 15 mana to be used in the game. Placing Psionic Traps around neutral creep camps can help Templar Assassin spot weakened enemy heroes to get easy kills. 

You can enter battles with Refraction on to prevent taking damage from spells and attacks while fighting enemy heroes with Templar Assassin. The bonus damage gained from Refraction will be effective in wiping out enemy heroes within seconds after initiating combat in Dota 2. The Agility hero can also increase the damage dealt by Psionic Traps by 110 at level 10.  

Items to Buy for Templar Assassin

Blink Dagger

Blink Dagger is an item that can help Templar Assassin initiate team fights in Dota 2. You can purchase a Blink Dagger for 2250 gold in the game. Templar Assassin can teleport up to a distance of 1200 by using Blink Dagger in battles. 

Many people prefer to use Meld right after using Blink Dagger to deal bonus damage to enemy units. Templar Assassin can use Refraction before teleporting into battles to avoid taking damage from enemy attacks. Blink Dagger has a cooldown of 15 seconds. You can upgrade a Blink Dagger to Swift Blink for bonus Agility and movement speed after teleporting into team fights. 

Desolator

Desolator provides 50 attack damage to Templar Assassin. Physical attacks will reduce the armor of enemy units by 6 for 7 seconds by purchasing a Desolator for the Agility hero. Any hero killed by Templar Assassin with Desolator equipped in her inventory will provide a permanent damage increase of 2. 

The bonus damage gained from enemy kills provides up to a maximum of 20 attack damage using Desolator. People can decimate enemy heroes with Templar Assassin by turning on Refraction after buying a Desolator to fight opponents in Dota 2. The item costs 3500 gold in the game. 

Hurricane Pike

Hurricane Pike grants 200 health, 150 attack range, 20 Agility, 15 Strength, and 15 Intelligence to the Agility hero. The increased attack range provided by Hurricane Pike can help Lanaya deal damage to enemy units from a safe distance while farming in lanes. Psi Blades will also help Templar Assassin deal spill damage after purchasing Hurricane Pike from an increased range in team fights. Hurricane Pike can be bought for 4450 gold in Dota 2. 

Templar Assassin can use Hurricane Pike to push enemy units away by a distance of 450. Lanaya gains a 100 attack speed bonus and can attack the targeted enemy unit without restrictions on her attack range for the next 5 attacks by using Hurricane Pike. The item has a cooldown of 19 seconds and requires 100 mana to be used in the game.

Sniper

Sniper assists Templar Assassin by casting Shrapnel to slow enemy heroes 

Sniper can attack enemy units from far-off distances to destroy enemy heroes. The ranged hero can annihilate enemy heroes and towers in Dota 2 games. Templar Assassin can strike opponents with Refraction to deal bonus damage to them after they are affected by Shrapnel. 

Sniper can cast Shrapnel to slow the movement speed of enemy heroes by 30% for 10 seconds. Enemy units affected by Shrapnel take up to 70 damage in a radius of 400. Shrapnel needs 75 mana to be used.
