With the Lima Major right around the corner, we take a look at the meta we can expect to see on the main stage.
We are 5 days away from the beginning of the first Major of the 2023 DPC. After the end of Division I of Tour 1, the best teams in the world have secured a slot for The Lima Major. The latter will start on February 22 and will last for a couple of days. Needless to say, teams will compete for a substantial cash prize, as well as DPC points.
Speaking of the Major, we expected Valve to release a new patch prior to the first big event of the year. As you probably remember, the company promised to give us access to Muerta, the new hero, in early 2023. However, it doesn’t seem like we’ll be getting anything new before the event.
With that said, we’ve decided to take a step back and look at some of the meta’s hottest heroes before the Major’s beginning. Unless Valve decides to relase the new patch a few days prior to the Major, we will be seeing these heroes a lot in the next couple of days.
Supports
When it comes down to support,s the current meta favors a couple of heroes. Even though they range from region to region, some of the names you’re about to see are a lot more popular than others.
Starting with the elephant in the room, we have to mention Rubick. This has been the most popular support hero in several regions, including Western Europe and China. Everyone who followed the DPC up close won’t be surprised because Rubick was on another level.
The hero’s ability to control team fights and the fact that he can always steal an invaluable ability makes him incredibly dangerous. Unless Valve decides to nerf him prior to Major, we will be seeing him in almost every game.
Tusk is also a viral hero that we will definitely see in action at The Lima Major. He might not be as dangerous as Rubick, but his ability to roam and secure kills make him incredibly dangerous. Tusk is one of the heroes some teams can even run on the offlane because of his strength.
Lastly, we have to mention the likes of Treant Protector, Disruptor, and Tiny. Even though the latter can also be played as a core, we’ve seen him in position 4 many times, so we think he will continue to be one of the best options at The Lima Major 2023.
Offlane
When it comes down to the hottest offlaners in the 2023 DPC, several heroes deserve close attention. However, if we have to point one that is above the rest, our pick goes to Death Prophet. She’s been one of the most consistent heroes in the last couple of months, which explains why she’s the top pick in every region.
Even though DP might not seem like a good offlaner on paper, the hero’s ability to clear waves and push towers makes her incredibly dangerous. Consequently, even some of the offlaners known for picking farming cores often decide to give DP a chance.
As mentioned, Tusk can also fall into this category because some players have been using him in the offlane instead of a position 4 support. The same applies to Clockwerk, even though he’s mostly picked in the support role.
While we’re on the topic of hot offlaners in the current Dota 2 DPC, we need to include none other than Broodmother. Even though this was just a situational pick a few patches ago, the hero took over the Dota 2 world. Consequently, we expect to see her even more often.
Enigma is also an exciting offlaner that is pretty big right now. Sure, the hero might not work in every setup, but some teams relied on it a lot, so we wouldn’t be surprised if we see Enigma more often than usual.
Mid-laners
Everyone knows that the mid-lane in Dota 2 is one of the most important positions in the game, regardless of the meta. Speaking of metas, this one is slightly different than before because there are several top-tier heroes, and each one can work under a specific condition.
Starting with the big midder in the current Dota 2 patch, we have Leshrac. The hero has established himself as the go-to option at TI 11, and the best teams have been counting on him ever since. Unsurprisingly, he’s been the preferred option in almost all regions, especially Western Europe.
Putting Leshrac aside, Pangolier is also a solid option for one of the top mid-laners heroes at The Lima Major 2023. The hero isn’t as popular as his counterpart, but his ability to dodge ganks and do tons of burst damage makes him incredibly dangerous.
In addition to these two, we can also include Batrider, Ember Spirit, and even Invoker. Batrider and Ember can work in almost all situations, whereas Invoker is a situational pick requiring a specific setup to shine.
Carries
Finally, we have most people’s favorite role in Dota 2. Since the current patch has been around for some time, the best teams in the world know that there are a couple of carries that are much stronger than the rest. Of course, we have to start with Lina.
Lina is one of the most insane carry heroes you can get in the current patch for numerous reasons. She’s incredibly efficient, farms really fast, has tons of range, and has one of the best-bursting ultimates in the game. What’s more, she can lane against anything and have no problems.
The next name when it comes down to the Dota 2 carries we expect to see at The Lima Major 2023 is Nature’s Prophet. He’s been one of the go-to alternatives for many top carries, especially in regions like WEU. Although not as efficient as Lina, NP definitely has the needed power to carat his team.
There are several other top carries in the patch, such as Terrorblade, Ursa, Naga Siren and CK. All of them can work really well, so it depends on the situation.
