ESL is once again taking CS:GO Major to Rio. This time around, we do not think that COVID-19 is going to stop this Major from happening. During October, the best Counter-Strike teams from all over the globe will try to qualify in order to fight for their share of $1.000,000 in prize money.

When and Where Will IEM Rio Take Place?

The event itself will commence on October 31st with The New Challengers Stage. The same esports ecosystem is used in all recent Majors regarding CS:GO. After the fighting is done throughout The New Challengers and The New Legends Stage, the playoffs or so-called The Champions Stage will begin on November 10th and are going to last until November 13th.

A total of 24 teams are going to compete in this event for a total of $1.000,000 in prize money. The venue has already been booked and it is a popular one in the world of esports. Jeunesse Arena has already hosted Riots’ Mid Season Invitational back in 2017.

From what we were able to find out, the capacity of this venue can hold up to 15,000 fans which means that the atmosphere in Brazil is going to be through the roof. If you are into CS:GO betting, bear one thing in mind. Brazilian Counter-Strike teams will try their best to qualify in order to represent their country on such a big stage, so be careful when betting against them as they have an extra motive to compete.

Prize Pool Structure

As mentioned above, teams are going to fight for $1.000,000 in prize money. Even though this is not that much anymore, the prestige and fame teams get from winning a Major are far more important. The full prize money structure can be found below.
