You can now download the Final Fantasy XVI Demo on the PlayStation 5 store. Here is everything you need to know.
Yesterday Square Enix held the pre-launch party as part of the ongoing Summer Games Fest 2023. The event was more than just a celebration of the upcoming launch, it was also a full-on presentation.
After a rousing speech by new Square Enix CEO Takashi Kiryu, producer Naoki Yoshida then revealed that a Demo for Final Fantasy XVI would be available later that day on the PlayStation 5 storefront.
About the Final Fantasy XVI Demo
This demo does not only include the first 2 hours of the final release it also features a separate combat demo that lets players toy around with the full suit of Clive’s abilities.
The main demo will cover most of the prologue of Final Fantasy XVI which will introduce players to the world of Valisthea as well as its protagonist Clive Rosfield. The progress of this demo will carry over into the final release so you don’t have to worry about playing the prologue again.
You can find the download to the demo on the PlayStation 5 store here. The full game will release on June 22, 2023, for PlayStation 5 with a PC version potentially being released sometime in the future.
About Final Fantasy XVI
Final Fantasy XVI is the latest entry in the Final Fantasy franchise and is made by the team behind the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV. Don’t worry you are not required to play any of the previous entries.
The game centers around Clive Rosfield, the first son of the archduke of Rosaria. After tragedy strikes, Clive sets out on a decades-long quest for revenge which pits him against the Eikons, people with the ability to transform into magical creatures with the power to destroy entire cities.
Final Fantasy XVI prides itself on being a dark fantasy story in the vein of Game of Thrones. Players can expect both political intrigue and complex characters who each forge their own path in a story that expands over several decades and an entire continent.
It also features next-gen visuals and fast-paced action combat brought to you by some of the experts behind Devil May Cry, Nier Automata, and the Kingdom Hearts series. Players will be able to use the power of the Eikons in combat and even pit them against each other in battles of yet unseen scale.
