Dust2.us reveals that Aran “Sonic” Groesbeek will return to the Complexity roster as a stand-in for Håkon “hallzerk” Fjærli
Aran “Sonic” Groesbeek will resume AWPing duties for Complexity at the BLAST Spring finals, as reported by Dust2.us. This decision comes as Håkon “hallzerk” Fjærli, the team’s regular AWPer, continues to face visa complications.

Sonic initially came in as hallzerk’s replacement at IEM Dallas after the Norwegian was denied entry to the United States. The Complexity AWPer is no stranger to visa problems.
The 22-year-old Norwegian player faced the possibility of missing the RMR Americas tournament in Monterrey, Mexico, due to similar obstacles. Luck, however, favored him as he secured a temporary passport while his original one remained at the Norwegian embassy. Thanks to this fortunate turn of events, Hallzerk successfully traveled to Mexico and participated in the RMR without any issues.
Unfortunately, there hasn’t been much headway on the visa issue since then, as the player continues to experience the same difficulties.
IEM Dallas 2023 was not the first time Sonic crossed paths with the Complexity roster. Sonic’s association with the Complexity core goes back to their Cloud9 and Extra Salt days in 2020-2021 when he played alongside Johnny “JT” Theodosiou and the rest of the team. In October 2021, however, the South African player opted to step back from the competitive scene. Meanwhile, his teammates joined Complexity in early 2022 as the organization aimed to re-establish its North American presence.
Sonic announced his retirement in April 2022 and has made two brief reappearances in the scene since then. His first comeback stint was with Nixuh in late 2022 before donning the Complexity shirt for the IEM Dallas 2023.

The ex-Cloud 9 AWPer showed no signs of rustiness after returning in front of the monitor. He was Complexity’s highest-rated player in the tournament with an average 1.12 rating across six maps.
