Everything you need to know about Overwatch 2’s Lunar New Year Event!

Almost 3 weeks have passed since the arrival of 2023, and we already have access to another Overwatch 2 event. Following the Battle for Olympus, Overwatch 2 players can now enjoy the annual Lunar New Year even. Focused on the Chinese New Year, this event is usually full of unique skins and other cool things that people can choose from.

Speaking of annual competitions, this year, it is all about the Year of the Rabbit. Similar to before, we have access to a couple of new skins, but there are even more things to choose from. With that said, let’s learn more about the Overwatch 2 Lunar New Year event.

Map design changes

One of the first things that Overwatch 2 players will notice is that some maps look slightly different in terms of colors. The idea here is to make people feel a part of the Lunar New Year, so similar to previous years, some maps will look more special. Fortunately, this won’t affect anything else, meaning you don’t need to learn how to play on specific maps again.

Speaking of maps, Season 3 should give us access to something new once it becomes available. Aside from the new map, we also expect to have access to a new game mode. Who knows, things like capture the flag might be just a few weeks away.

New game modes

Aside from some of the cosmetic map changes, the Overwatch 2 Lunar Event will also allow us to play a couple of new modes. In fact, there are a few exciting arcade modes to choose from, such as capture the flag, capture the flag blitz, and something called “bounty hunter”.

The first game mode will allow you to play in a 5v5 format where two teams have to compete and capture the enemy’s flag while defending their own. People interested in the Blitz will have to do the same, but the match is faster, which means it will be even more interesting.

Lastly, we have the Bounty Hunter option. This Overwatch 2 Arcade mode will have 6 players, and your goal will be to kill enemies and claim their bounty., Of course, doing this means you will become the target, and you will get more HP, as well as your ult.

Besides killing heroes, you can also get bonus points for killing non-target heroes. To win the Overwatch 2 bounty hunter event, you must collect 4000 points.

Loads of new hero skins

Of course, we have to address the elephant in the room regarding the Overwatch 2 Lunar New Year event and mention the skins. There will be a lot of exciting options to choose from, some of which you can buy for around $10. However, players can also get special skins, such as the one for Moira, which is available from a Twitch Drop.

There is also an interesting ski for Mei called Hu Tou Mao. It is “Epic” and costs 1000 Overwatch coins. Don’t forget to check the in-game shop for more information.

Challenges

Another thing that the Overwatch 2 Lunar event will give us access to is tons of new challenges that will only be available during the event. Speaking of the devil, we will have 14 days to make the most of it, so start playing if you want to get your hands on something special.

There are a total of 25 event challenges, and they will give you different rewards. Besides Battle Pass points, you can also get skins, souvenirs, name cards, sprays, and more.

In addition to the special Lunar New Year Overwatch 2 challenges, such as the one where you have to win 10 games in Bounty Hunter, you can still complete the “quests” from the Battle for Olympus. So, make sure to check what’s available before you start playing.

Other information

In addition to the Overwatch 2 Lunar New Year event, players are eager to learn more about the upcoming Season 3. According to some sources, the newest Season in Overwatch 2 is just around the corner, and we expect to see a lot of changes.

As mentioned in our previous articles, some heroes will receive substantial nerfs. Of course, we’re talking about Roadhog, the hero that’s been terrorizing the meta since the arrival of Blizzard’s latest game.

Speaking of changes to some heroes, we wouldn’t be surprised if we see buffs to Sombra. As you may remember, this hero was the go-to option for almost all DPS players early on, but the nerfs pretty much “killed” her. However, we’ve seen tweets from people involved in Overwatch 2 that the hero will receive buffs, so we have to see what will happen.

Conclusion

Even though many people are unhappy with the current state of Overwatch 2, at least the game receives cool events and other things to keep players interested. However, we are yet to see any of the big updates in action. For example, many players are eager to experience the PVE mode, which should become available later this year.

Unsurprisingly, we are ESTNN will make sure to cover everything new about this game as soon as it becomes available. So, make sure to follow us for more information. Also, we can give you access to some of the hottest Overwatch 2 betting sites. Don’t forget that OWL offers a lot of options.
