How to take advantage of Tracer

[ad_1]

Every hero in Overwatch is unique and offers something special. Of course, some of them are more popular than others because they deal more damage and are extremely fun to play. Tracer is definitely one of the names that fall into this category.

The hero is notorious for her fast movement speed and ability to deal a lot of burst damage. As expected, Tracer will remain almost the same in Overwatch 2. In fact, we only know that her Pulse Pistols will do slightly less damage than before.

Despite being incredibly fun to play, there is no arguing that Tracer is one of the most difficult heroes to master. She has the lowest HP in the game, making her an easy target for any hero out there. So, let’s learn more about Tracer and how to use her in Overwatch and Overwatch 2.

Learn how to use your cooldowns

One of the most important things that every Tracer player has to keep in mind is that this hero depends heavily on her cooldowns. This applies to most heroes in Overwatch, but since Tracer only has 150 HP, staying in the open against your opponents without having any cooldowns will almost always result in death.

The good news is that it is not hard to learn how to play with your CDs. Thanks to her ability to play blink, Tracer should be able to escape from danger when needed. Sadly, many people waste allow of their blink charges just to get a single kill. Once that happens, they don’t have anything left and will most likely die.

Trading kills can be important in some situations, but it is usually something you should avoid. Since the Tracer Overwatch 1 model is small and the hero is swift, you should be able to dodge most attacks easily.

Place your crosshair properly

Unlike many other heroes in Overwatch, Tracer requires you to be accurate in order to deal damage. This hero is not like Pharah or Junkrat that provides value to the team simply by existing. Instead, you must be active and hit your shots to deal damage.

Having a good aim is important, but the only way to get better at it is by playing as much as possible. Once you spend enough time playing with Tracer, you will eventually become much better and a lot more effective.

Speaking of efficiency, one of the things you could do is related to your crosshair placement. Learning where your enemies could be will help you a lot because you will be able to kill them much easier. This is easier said than done with some heroes, especially those that have to fight from a distance. However, Tracer is one of the DPS that needs to be close to be effective, which is why this tactic could work.

Take full advantage of Recall

Recall is one of the best abilities in Overwatch and allows Tracer to play aggressively. This is an ability that lets the hero “go back in time” 3 seconds, which means she can restore her HP, avoid damage, and much more.

Unfortunately, many people don’t realize this ability’s potential and often use it for no reason. This means they often don’t have it available when they really need it.

Ideally, you should try to use Recall to dodge damage and reposition yourself. Most people succeed with the first part because they use the ability when things don’t go well. However, learning how to reposition yourself with Recall takes time.

Before using this ability, you must remember that it will take you to the location you were at three seconds ago. In other words, you should keep track of this timeframe and always use it to your advantage. Once you learn how to do that, you can use Recall offensively.

Know your enemies

This tip is general and can be used by any hero in the game. However, it is especially true for Tracer because this is the DPS with the lowest HP in the game.

Since you are an easy target for pretty much any hero in Overwatch, you need to know how much damage they deal and whether they have any abilities that can CC you. Every stun/slow can be deadly for Tracer, so you need to do everything possible to avoid those things.

Speaking of knowing your enemies, you should spend some time and learn how much damage they do. Each hero in Overwatch has a primary fire mode that deals a certain amount of damage. Some are stronger than others, but once you have this information, you can use it to your advantage in your playstyle.

For example, Cassidy usually deals around 70 damage per body shot. So, if you have more than 70 HP, you can play more aggressively against him because he won’t be able to kill you with a single shot (unless it is a HS).

Master the “Blink+ Melee” technique

Have you been in situations where you use all of your ammo and leave your target on one 1 HP? Every Tracer player had gone through this at least a couple of times and it is super annoying because you have to wait to reload. Needless to say, there are situations where you won’t be able to land a kill after that.

One of the things you can do to avoid these situations is to use the infamous Blink and Melee combo. Like every hero in the game, Tracer can do melee damage to finish a target. Most other heroes have problems doing this because they are usually not close to their opponents. However, Tracer needs to stay close to be effective, which allows her Blink and Melee to be way more effective.

Using this technique will take time, but once you master it, you will score more kills. Make sure to check some of the top-tier Tracer players in the world because many of them use it all the time.
