How To Boost FPS in CSGO For Better in-game Performance in 2022

CSGO is not the game it used to be in 2012. Over the years a lot has changed in and out of the game. But one thing that is still constant is the fact that you don’t need a high end, pocket emptying GPU to get the best experience in CSGO.

CSGO isn’t as demanding in terms of hardware, as it runs on the Source engine which was launched in 2004. Although a switch to Source 2 for CSGO is always rumored and awaited by a lot, we aren’t any closer to getting Source 2 engine for CSGO.

What we can do is optimise CSGO and make a few minor changes to improve performance by a margin. This would result in an increase in FPS in CSGO, and an overall smoother experience for the players. Here’s how:

NOT USING 144HZ MONITORS TO THEIR FULL POTENTIAL

The refresh rate of a monitor is one of the most important things for FPS games. When using a 60Hz monitor, players wouldn’t  be able to fully utilise the Frames Per Second as it would be somewhat limited due to the 60Hz screen.

Even after installing a 144Hz monitor, users often forget that it might still be set to  60Hz and capping performance. Users need to manually change their refresh rate from the display settings, and also ensure they are using the right cables.

HDMI cables may not allow for maximum refresh rate but a DisplayPort cable is the go to for high end monitors. 144Hz monitors also give a boost to FPS in CSGO when connected to the GPU directly.
