Jack “Jackinho” Ström Mattsson has been removed from Fnatic’s active CSGO division, the Swedish organization announced today on Twitter.

Jackinho was brought aboard on the team as the team’s sniper in place of  Robin “flusha” Rönnquist who was earlier benched by the team in January. This roster change comes just after a period of 10 months as Jackinho failed to deliver across several tournaments with just a second-place finish at Cs_summit 7 where they were handed defeat at the hands of Virtus.pro. Since the latter, things seemed to enter a downward spiral for Maikil “Golden” Selim and his men as Fnatic never made it out of the groups at ESL Pro League S13 previously followed by their elimination at the Play-in stage of the IEM Katowice 2021.

Soon later, the team decided to go international as they underwent a major revamp, benching Jesper “JW” Wecksell and Maikil “Golden” Selim in the process and eventually passing on the AWP to Jackinho. This did indeed pave the way for Alex “ALEX” McMeekin and William “mezii” Merriman to Fnatic, the duo who had earlier spent time playing under the banner of Cloud9.

Since their addition, Fnatic started on a positive note, having qualified for the playoffs at the fourteenth iteration of the ESL Pro League although they let their rhythm fade away as they were denied a spot at the forthcoming PGL Major where a highly contested RMR event halted their chances of making it to the same. With Jackinho averaging a 2.0 rating of 0.90 at the win-less event, Fnatic eventually decided to make yet another roster change and have actively started searching for a replacement.

For time being, Owen “smooya” Butterfield has been listed by Fnatic as their stand-in for the upcoming IEM Winter Open Qualifier 1 till they find a permanent fifth. Smooya was earlier placed on the bench at Movistar Riders in August and now returns to the competition in the colors of Fnatic.
