Expedia enters esports industry with Esports Awards sponsorship

USA-based online travel business Expedia has been named as the latest sponsor for this year’s Esports Awards, which is due to take place in November.

According to the statement, the company will work closely with the Esports Awards to generate a number of ‘epic moments’ for guests, viewers, and fans’. On the evening of awards with hosts from around the world, Expedia will also organise many co-streams.

Expedia worked with a sporting organisation for the first time. Hotels.com and Trivago are among their most well-known brands and Expedia.com and Expedia Cruises are known for their tour aggregators.

Mike Wolfe, Expedia Group’s Head of Global Brand Creative, Sponsorships and Partnerships, noted: “We’re excited to announce this collaboration with the Esports Awards, an event as global as our travellers. We know the travel audience is a big part of the gaming family and we look forward to helping them, fans and followers unleash their travel greatness through the epic, in real-life trips we all can’t wait to take again.”

As a sponsor for the Esports Coach of the Year Award, Expedia was also announced.

The Esports Honors will feature more than 37 awards covering the whole sport sector at Arlington Sports Stadium in Texas. These include the Year’s Games, the Year’s Organization and the Year’s Sports Coverage Platform that is nominated by Esports Insider.
