Atrioc caught paying for deepfakes of fellow streamers » TalkEsport

Atrioc is an up-and-coming Twitch streamer who is rising through the ranks at a leisurely pace which is why you may not have heard about him, however, he has made the headlines for all the wrong reasons having enraged the streaming community with his actions.

In one of his latest streams, Brandon “Atrioc” Ewing was caught looking at websites that sell deepfakes of popular female streamers.  While playing Hitman 3, he switched tabs and landed on the website where deepfakes of Pokimane and Maya Higa could be seen allegedly.

Said website is reportedly a popular source of deepfakes where users can pay to get their hands on NSFW content of famous personalities. For those of you who do not know what deepfakes are, “Deepfakes are synthetic media in which a person in an existing image or video is replaced with someone else’s likeness”.

Following a massive outcry from the community, Atrioc had no choice but to issue a public apology and he did so. He live-streamed his apology with his partner next to him on Twitch. This is what he had to say  “This is so embarrassing. But I was on a regular ass, normal f***** website, and there was an ad. There’s an ad on every f***** video… for this deepfake thing, and then I click it, and then I’m in this rabbit hole.”

He further acknowledged that he did not look up any streamer that he personally knew and a general subscription for the website was purchased on the day of the clip and he had a receipt to attest the fact.

With the news attracting tons of attention, the website has garnered a lot of free publicity and as a result, the deepfakes of many streamers are getting viral to wit, and many female streamers have raised their voices against the issue.
