The penultimate day of Groups at Worlds 2022 is done and we have the final standings for Group C.

 

Rogue vs GAM Esports

GAM came into the game ready to fight, getting the first blood with an early top dive. They also controlled the early game lanes great which gave them another two kills at the Herald fight. Fortunately for RGE, they managed to steal the Herald, but GAM also took the first two drakes for a fast potential Infernal Soul. But GAM couldn’t hold onto their early game lead as RGE matched their mid game moves pretty well and always had the answer. Even with GAM getting the second Herald, RGE had a 1k gold lead. GAM also couldn’t capitalize on their drake lead and gave up the next two, delaying their Soul even more. The game-breaking team fight happened in the mid game when GAM chased down RGE into their jungle, but RGE kited back well and got four kills into a Baron secure. GAM tried to find favorable fights after this point but RGE lead had grown above 5k with a better scaling comp, so they didn’t have much success.

GAM Esports vs Top Esports

With their chances of moving forward now very slim, GAM came to Game 2 with a draft focused around Levi, with a rare pick of Karthus. They played a very objective-focused early game getting the first Herald and the first two drakes. GAM also found multiple kills around the map and did a very good job at matching TES at skirmishes. Still, TES was able to get some leads through laning and used them to get back into the game during the mid game. They managed to stop the GAM’s drake stacking and got themselves a 3k gold lead even while they were behind on kills. Despite TES’s lead, the 5v5s were quite close thanks to the massive damage output from Levi and Sty1e which led to GAM securing Mountain Soul. TES found a Baron and but couldn’t crack the GAM base with it, and it started to look like the game would be decided at the Elder, which GAM had control over the objective as they found a teamfight victory before it. The Elder was the point where the game just descended into madness. First, JackeyLove managed to steal the Elder and TES got an almost ace. They pushed the Nexus but Kiaya delayed them just enough for GAM to get the kills, and then push for their own end. They killed the Nexus towers just as TES members spawned, but the late game damage of GAM was enough to kill the Nexus and give themselves a chance to advance.

DRX vs Rogue

Another game another treat in the draft! DRX locked in Heimerdinger support and RGE answered with the much-anticipated Nasus support from Trymbi. The bot lane matchup was in favor of DRX who locked their opponents under their tower in the early game. All the while the DRX top side got the advantage in a 3v3 to get the first two kills and the first Herald. DRX also controlled the mid game and was the team that pushed the game’s tempo as they found the kills and were stacking drakes. And after an extended 5v5 in the top lane where Zeka shined, DRX aced RGE to secure the Mountain Soul. DRX then found a couple of picks, the first two leading to a Baron and the next two giving them a chance to break Nexus towers. With the gold lead over 12k at this point, DRX was able to win the game which also eliminated GAM from contention.
