We have already seen some action in the first two days of Group Stage, which we will surely take into consideration in our lol worlds pick’em. For example, Fnatic’s struggles are going to change our expectations for them for the rest of the group stage. We won’t write the exact records for each time, but we’re going to mention our predicted standings for each group. Without further ado, let’s jump right into our LoL Pick’em 2021!

Who’s making it out of Group A in our LoL Pick’em?

When Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski made the groups draw a few weeks ago, everyone knew it was almost over for Rogue. Not only they ended up with the Korean powerhouse DAMWON Kia, but this year they will also fight the LPL team FunPlusPhoenix. Two top teams in our Worlds Power Rankings and favorites for the championship ending in the same group is something unheard of.

The opener for this year’s Group Stage saw DK go up against FPX in what was one of the most anticipated matches of the whole tournament. While many thought FPX would have had the upper hand, it was DK who came out victorious. The Korean 1st seed dominated the enemies in a one-sided game, ended in less than 30 minutes.

This result definitely took fans by surprise, as most of them put FPX first in their LoL Worlds Pick’em. We will have to see whether they will still end first: the general idea is that they will. Their 2nd game against DK will be a lot spicier than the first one.

Aside from that, all the other matches are matching the expectations. Rogue beat C9 on Day 1 and played well against DK, pulling out a surprising Fiddlesticks. Even though they lost, they might have what it takes to take a game off against the two top teams of the group.

Cloud9, unfortunately, ended up in the worst group possible, and will likely be the punching bag for all the other teams. They might have a peak performance to get a win, but considering their loss against RGE, C9 might leave Iceland last in their group. Here are our LoL Pick’em for Group A:

  1. FunPlus Phoenix
  2. DWG KIA
  3. Rogue
  4. Cloud9

Pick’em Worlds 2021 – Group B

This group should be the easiest one out of the four. Edward Gaming and T1 are a tier above the other two, with the first being even better than the Faker’s team. The Japanese team DetonationFocusMe managed in a miraculous run in play-ins, advancing directly to groups. Their level of play, however, might not be good enough to go further.

The only real question is what can 100Thieves potentially do in this group. We think that they might have what it takes to take a win off of T1, but that’s about it. In a miraculous turn of events, there might a tie-breaker between the two, but the probabilities of it happening are slim. Nevertheless, it will be an important experience for a team that always lacked in macro play. Asian teams were always superior in this department, so 100T should seize the opportunity and learn from their enemies.

Who’s advancing in Group C?

Fnatic’s recent events have influenced their outcomes in the group. Previously a potential contender for the second spot in this group, it will become a lot harder without ADC Elias “Upset” Lipp. The LoL odds for Fnatic have drastically changed, as they become the underdogs in almost every series. Based on what happened in the first two days, RNG seems the undisputed number 1 in our LoL Worlds Pick’em. Watch out for them also in the Knockout Stage: they will surprise us.

The second place will be a hard-fought battle between PSG Talon and Hanwha Life Esports: based on recent performances, Korea’s 4th seed is slightly favored. Remember that stage time has been crucial in past Worlds editions, and HLE had a lot more compared to PSG Talon.

  1. Royal Never Give Up
  2. Hanwha Life Esports
  3. PSG Talon
  4. Fnatic

Worlds 2021 Predictions – Group D

To close our LoL Pick’em, we have Group D. While MAD Lions looked like the clear favorites in the group, their loss against Team Liquid shook many fans’ expectations. After Day 2, all teams are sitting with a 1-1 record. Based on their form and performances, LNG Esports and Gen.G seem to have a little edge over the Western representatives. Despite being predictable, Gen.G’s gameplay is very high level and unless you are well-prepared, you won’t be able to stop them.

We might see a tiebreaker in this group, potentially a 3-way one. It would be very exciting to watch, as the stress might create more upsets and shocking moments that we would have never thought. Make sure to watch this group as it will be the closest between the four.

  1. LNG
  2. Gen.G
  3. MAD
  4. TL
