The Worlds 2021 Finals will take place Laugardalshöll Indoor Sporting Arena in Reykjavík, Iceland, on Nov. 6th, live at 14:00 CEST. For the first time ever, there won’t be an audience at a Worlds Finals. Nevertheless, fans will be able to enjoy the action and the atmosphere of a live event in the local cinemas.

The good thing is that Riot already has past experience at broadcasting the League Worlds finals live. In 2019, European fans had the opportunity to watch the series between FunPlus Phoenix and G2 Esports in more than 150 cinemas across the continent. This year, the final match will be live again, providing an “esports experience like no other,” according to Riot.

Worlds 2021 and its sudden change of plans

This year’s edition of Worlds has been a rollercoaster for the organizers. Worlds 2021 was supposed to be held in China, but due to the whole Covid-19 situation, the organizers had to make big changes to the plans. The worst thing was the timing, as the decision was taken very late into the season, to the point where Riot had to postpone the start of the tournament to early October.

Luckily, Riot made the right call to utilize the same venue as the Mid-Season Invitational. The event held in Iceland was very successful in terms of safety and it was logical for the company to go for the safe route. Most teams were able to get their visas ready and travel safely, together with the coaching staff and crew members. The only ones missing out on Worlds 2021 were the two Vietnamese representatives, who did not play for the majority of the season due to the severe conditions in their country. Apart from this little inconvenience, everything else went quite smoothly for Riot, showing their adaptability.

With that being said, only eight teams remain in the competition, but only one will come out on top. “No matter the outcome, we’re sure to see some electrifying matches in the glorious return of the Worlds Finals” Riot stated. We will surely have “electrifying matches” before enjoying the finals in cinemas across the region.

Those who want to feel the atmosphere and excitement of a live audience and watch the biggest event of LoL Esports of the year can find the tickets at the League in Cinemas website.
