With over a week to go for patch 12.17, we got a first look at what the planned changes are.


There is still over a week of play for the current patch of 12.16 for League of Legends. But as the tradition continues, we got some updates and a first look at the planned changes for the upcoming patch 12.17. The changes, as usual, were posted on Twitter by Riot’s Summoner’s Rift Design Team lead Matt ‘Phroxzon’ Leung-Harrison.

The patch looks quite heavy compared to the last two we got, and it involves multiple big champion adjustments. The current highlight of the patch is the big changes to Maokai, with the purpose of bringing him back to his top lane origins, while he has been stuck as an AP support for a long time. There are also multiple nerfs to pro-play dominant champions, with multiple champs seeing some buffs as they were absent from the meta.

As always, the preview notes are subject to change and no plan is set in stone until the full patch notes are released.
