Final Warzone Update Hits – What’s in Store for Final 2 Months?

The final Warzone update has hit. This is what has changed and how you can play once the game closes down.

Warzone has had a decent run as a live game, but it’s coming to a close. The final Warzone update is out. While the title has maintained a level of popularity that few Battle Royales outside of Fortnite and Apex can, its time is up. However, it’s coming to an end. The final Warzone update has hit the game. It has brought new content and celebrated everything Warzone has been.

The series is gearing up for the release of a new Call of Duty mainline title, Modern Warfare 2. With that game, Warzone is getting replaced with Warzone 2. It’s a full replacement. A little unorthodox, but it mixes things up instead of just dropping yet another new season. We already have a decent idea of what’s coming with Warzone 2 POIs and other features that are going to be coming. We still have a bit of time left with the original though. It’s still got some life in it.

The final Warzone update is dropping its last batch of new content. It’s aimed at celebrating what Warzone has been. It ties into some of the game’s biggest moments. This is what’s happened and where Warzone is going in its last few weeks:

Final Warzone Update

The final Warzone update hit the game bringing new content and a celebration of the best of Warzone, along with some recognition of the game’s best moments. The update was just 6GB in total. That’s a far cry from Warzone’s early problems with file sizes. The patch came mid-season, so it’s not a whole batch of new content but enough to reinvigorate things. This is what came with the final Warzone update:

Greatest Hits Modes

The last portion of Warzone’s final season is going to have a greatest hits run of game modes. This playlist rotation is going to change once per week. It’ll have Founder’s Keep alongside Rebirth Island. There will also be a version of Plunder each week. That’s for squad sized groups. For Solos, there’s going to be a new rotation.

Battle Royale Solos are going to be rotating through the following variants:

• Buy Back Solos
• Battle Royale Solos
• Champion of Caldera Solos

There will also be Resurgence Solos available on Fortune’s Keep. Along with on Rebirth Island. Both active at all times.

LTM Rotation in Final Warzone Update

As well as the map rotation, they’ll be a rotation for the LTMs for Greatest Hits in the final Warzone update. These LTMs will be rotated around over the rest of the season:

• Rebirth Blood Money
• Rebirth Payload
• Caldera Iron Trials
• Caldera Resurgence
• Golden Plunder Caldera
• Clash Caldera
• Champion OF Caldera
• Battle Royale Buy Backs
• Sticks & Stones

Fortune’s Keep Resurgence Trios

The Call of Duty League tournament for Fortune’s Keep is kicking off soon. This is going to remain a game mode always active for a little while. With the upcoming CDL tournament, this makes sense. People need to practise after all.

Caldera Mini-Royale

The Mini-Royale game mode is going to be coming to Caldera.  This smaller game mode will be a nice mix-up for the Caldera map as we move towards the end of the original Warzone. It’s strange it took till the last Warzone update to get this though.

Rebirth Resurgence Supreme

The Rebirth Resurgence Mode is kicking back off, with some adjusted rules this time around. This is how it’s going to be different:

• Resurgence Countdown is going to have a longer run time.
• Player’s health is getting increased to 200.
• Eliminations now ping the rest of the enemy squad for a slightly longer period of time.
• Reductions to the Resurgence Countdown are twice as fast now.
• It’s reduced even more when you avenge a squad mate.
• New Supreme Weapons are coming. These are powered-up versions of fan-favourite weapons, with the lowest rarity being Epic.

Butcher Outro

The new update to Warzone is bringing a new cinematic outro from ‘The Butcher’. This is a fun inclusion.

Calling Cards in Final Warzone Update

Call Cards are being added as a free reward for everyone. These are one of the most fun parts of the Final Warzone update. These are going to be commemorating some of the most memorable moments in Warzone.  These are what’s been added. Along what event they are commemorating:

• King Grau – This one is to honor the Grau meta that used to dominate the game. This wasn’t the most popular time in the game, but it’s definitely a key part of Warzone’s history.
• Cracked Meta – Calling Card here is to commemorate the cracked DMR 14 that dominated year 2 of Warzone.
• Eagle Child – This one celebrates a reddit post!
• Big Fish! – This one might not really be a fish, but it’s nice to include everyone.
• Pest Control – The next calling card is to do with an incident on Rebirth Island
• Swap-Seat-Snipe – This one commemorates the always impressive sniping clips that the game has produced.

Gameplay Changes with the Final Warzone Update

All that content to celebrate what Warzone has been is nice, but what about the substantial stuff? The game is still getting content. There have been some changes made to gameplay to make some quality-of-life changes, even at this late stage in the game. These are some of the big changes:

Loadout Cost Reduction

Loadout Drop markers are getting new prices in the buy station. This is what they’ll cost now:

• Circle 1 – $10,000
• Circle 2– $9,500
• Circle 3 – $9,000
• Circle 4 – $8,500
• Circle 5 – $8,000
• Circle 6 – $7,500
• Circle 7 – $7,000

ATMs

These are now going to be appearing in Battle Royale! This is a nice expansion after they’ve been popular in Plunder and Golden Plunder

Gulag Tokens and Redeploy Tokens

The spawn rate for Gulag Tokens and Redeploy Tokens have been increased! These have been doubled in Legendary Supply Boxes and increased in regular supply boxes.

General Changes with Final Warzone Update

These are some of the more general changes for quality of life updates in the final Warzone update:

• Recommended Weapons – More players are getting recommendations in the Gunsmith.
• Golden Keycard Bunkers – These bunkers will now have a yellow circle highlighting them on the Tac map.
• Manual Gas Mask – This is going to be easier to manually equip and it’s moving to the first slot in the quick inventory.
• Supply Box UAVs – These won’t be showing on the minimap for the red ones. This should help cut down on clutter on the map.
• Ground Loot Perks – The text for these will be on the UI now.
• Scavenger Pouch – These now give off a guaranteed $1,000 for each enemy elimination.
• Portable Decontamination Station – Duration has been increased to 20 seconds.
• New Weapons – BP50, Lienna 57 have been added.
• Balancing Changes

Those are all of the major changes that are hitting with the final Warzone update. The balancing changes go pretty in-depth. They should keep the meta fresh for the final few rounds.

What’s Next for Warzone?

With the latest major update now out, what’s the plan for Warzone? Games this popular don’t just shut down. Instead, Warzone is getting a new sequel. The original isn’t getting fully closed up. Instead, it’s going to stop receiving new updates and content. This is how the changeover is going to work after the final Warzone update.

When is Warzone Shutting Down?

In short, it’s not. It doesn’t look like Activision is planning on shutting down the Warzone servers anytime soon. However, it won’t be receiving new updates. This was the final Warzone update with substantial changes. They’ll be a few more patches for balance or bug fixes between now and the sequel release.

Outside of these last few patches, Warzone will become just another unsupported online game. You can still play, but it won’t be receiving new content. We don’t know how long this is going to go on. However, Warzone 2 will be launching in November. This will be a new version of the game with a different balance for weapons and overall experience for players. Most Warzone fans will likely jump over to the new one.

It’s a big difference from how the publisher is handling one of their other big shooters. Activision-Blizzard is keeping Warzone running indefinitely, but shutting down Overwatch 2 days before the sequel even drops. Warzone fans are getting a bit more support. If they ever want to jump back in and remember how the original played, they can for a while at least.

Warzone isn’t shutting down, but as a Battle Royale there are unique problems when it isn’t supported. It gets harder to find games once a title is replaced by a sequel. However, a Battle Royale needs an entire huge lobby. It’s much more difficult. While Warzone isn’t shutting down, players probably can’t jump in and find games easily once a bit of time has passed.

When Does Warzone 2 Come Out?

The release date Warzone 2 is going to be November 16^th. This is just a little bit after the drop for Modern Warfare 2. The normal Warzone won’t be getting any of the weapons or content from the new game, with all of that being the draw for Warzone 2 instead. After this point, you probably won’t have too much reason to jump into the original Warzone.
