Following their ESL Pro League Season 18 victory in 2023, MOUZ ascended into playoff-team status, challenging for top placings at every tournament they attended. However, that was before David “frozen” Cernansky’s departure.
It’s very difficult to foresee how MOUZ will perform without their star rifler. So far they’ve only played one event with Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin in his place, and they did surprisingly well, finishing 3-4th at last year’s BLAST World Final.
Fortunately, their latest LAN victory came against their next opponent, Cloud9. It will be interesting to see how they fare in the rematch.
Cloud9
Despite the talent that Cloud9 possesses on their roster, their results have been up-and-down as of late. In the past few days, they lost a map to an inexperienced Polish squad Rebels, and beat one of the best CS2 teams in the world in Virtus.pro.
One of the main critiques of Cloud9’s current squad structure is the absence of a primary AWPer. Playing without a dedicated sniper makes it easier for opponents to take space on the map and be more proactive than they would be otherwise.
Despite that fact, Cloud9 are still a threat to any team they face, and they are a realistic contender for a playoff berth here at IEM Katowice.
