After playing a stupendous number of games in 2023 (166) and a string of solid performances to end the year, Monte have taken an extended break and are yet to play an official game in 2024.
The Ukrainian-majority side first made waves with their quarter-final run at the BLAST.tv Paris Major, before continuing to improve and racking up high placings in following tournaments.
Having not played competitively for a few weeks now, there is a chance that they come in cold into their maiden game in Katowice, which could lead to Monte dropping down to the Lower Bracket early into the event.
GamerLegion
Before the game, nobody expected GamerLegion to defeat Virtus.pro in the IEM Katowice Play-in qualification match, but Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski and his teammates surprised everyone and booked themselves a spot in the main tournament.
The international roster looked very shaky at the end of last year, but they came in hot into 2024 with a shock 2-0 upset against FaZe at the BLAST Spring Groups. More impressive wins followed against M80, and the previously mentioned Virtus.pro.
However, GamerLegion lack sufficient firepower, when it comes to games against more formidable opponents. This could be their downfall when facing tougher opposition later in the tournament.
