It has been something of a rocky week for Call of Duty esports. On one side, Season Two dropped, bringing with it a host of new content for Vanguard and Warzone, but there was also some bad news for the platform. Recently, it was announced that Brandon Snow, the Head of Activision Blizzard Esports, would be departing the company, after almost four years with the firm. It’s unknown how this will impact the Call of Duty League, but it’s a huge blow for Activision.
However, outside of that news, fans were treated to another exciting week of the Call of Duty League. We’re pushing onwards with the first Home Series, eagerly approaching the first CDL Major of the year, which will take place between the 3rd and the 6th of March. This week, Atlanta FaZe joined Seattle Surge at the top spot, with both teams refusing to lose a single match so far in the tournament.

Two at the Top of the Table
Atlanta FaZe and Seattle Surge boast identical records right now – 3 – 0 matches and 9 – 4 games. While it’s very early on in the competition, it’s safe to say that these teams will enjoy a dominating streak or two as the play unfolds in the coming months. The London Royal Ravens were knocked from the top spot following a harrowing 3 – 1 loss at the hands of the Los Angeles Guerrillas, another team with an already decent showing for the CDL 2022 season.
Although, the good news runs thin this week, with fans of the Florida Mutineers, the New York Subliners, and Paris Legion writhing in agony. At this point, these teams occupy the bottom three slots of the table, and both NYSL and Paris Legion have failed to win a single match so far. It’s a painful blow to the likes of the Subliners, which currently boasts the veteran, legendary talents of both Crimsix and Clayster.
They’re widely considered to be two of the greatest Call of Duty players of all time, but there are also suggestions that the team isn’t gelling well enough. There’s something of a divide, with the ‘older’ skills of Clayster and Crim clashing with the young, hot energy of Neptune and HyDra.
Plenty to Play For
There’s still a huge amount of time left in the Call of Duty League tournament (good news, COD betting fans), and these concerns shouldn’t be taken too seriously.
However, the newly-formed OpTic Texas still has a lot to prove, as a victory this weekend over Paris Legion isn’t all that much to shout about. While a win is a win, OpTic Texas handed a loss to a team that is yet to score a single point on the board. Of course, we appreciate that it’s #BrickbyBrick, so we’ll let that one slide for now.
Next week, there are a few high-profile matches taking place that betting fans should watch closely. For instance, Boston Breach will be facing off against both OpTic Texas and the New York Subliners for the first time. With the likes of Cap, Nero, TJHaly, and Methodz driving the team forwards, Boston Breach is certainly a team destined for great things in the Call of Duty League 2022 season.
