The Dota 2 Patch 7.32c will go down in history as the patch that was used for The International 11. Although the latter did not have a jaw-dropping prize pool like TI 10, it allowed us to watch the best teams in the world. In the end, Tundra Esports showed that they were the best and won the event.
Throughout TI 11 and in patch 7.32c, we saw people use all sorts of heroes. This is one of the Dota 2 patches where most heroes in the game can work in certain scenarios. Unsurprisingly, this means that we see tons of different items in each game.
Everyone knows things like Black King Bar and Batterfury are good and can work in many scenarios. However, there are several other items that are also great, but they do not have that many fans. Fortunately, we will learn more about them in this article.
Lotus Orb
Although this is an item that we can sometimes find while watching professional Dota 2 games, Lotus Orb is not an item you can find in PUBs, especially among lower-tier players. For some reason, they believe that the item is not worth it. So, instead of getting it, they go for other things.
Although Lotus Orb is a situational item, it can be extremely strong on some heroes, especially if they play against heroes that have stunned. Aside from the passive attributes, this is an active item that provides a special shield that lasts 6 seconds. During it, most spells cast towards the given target will be reflected back to the caster.
Aside from that, Lotus Orb also gives 10 armor, 6.5 HP regen, 4 mana regen, and 250 mana. The item costs 3,850 gold in total, which is definitely not cheap. However, most heroes should be able to get it if they really want it.
Aeon Disk
Even though this item became more popular in the last couple of months, Aeon Disk is nowhere near as big as it should be. This item costs just 3000 gold, but its effect can be game-changing. Once you get it, you will receive a special shield that lasts for 2.5s, during which you teal and take zero damage. Furthermore, you will get a 75% status resistance.
Interestingly, this item’s effect is triggered when you take damage and your HP falls below 70%. This item gives you +250 HP and +300 mana, which is not bad. In fact, these stats and the fact that it is not that expensive are among the reasons why this item is great for some supports.
Rod of Atos
This is undoubtedly one of the most underrated Dota 2 items, and for a reason. Rod of Atos is a situational item that usually works only on a couple of heroes. Skywrath Mage is the first name that comes to mind, but we’ve also seen it on other spellcasters. When used, this item will root a given target for 2s, allowing you to cast abilities and attack him.
Rod of Atos costs 2750 gold, and it gives +24 INT, +12 STR, and +12 AGI. The stats are pretty good, especially for the gold it costs, but only a few heroes go for it.
Having said that, the last couple of updates made this item more popular because people can upgrade it to Gleipnir. The latter provides +30 damage, +24 INT, +14 STR, and +14 AGI. Moreover, it allows you to root targets for 2s within a 450 radius and deal 220 damage. Since this item also requires Mjollnir, you can access the Chain Lightning passive.
Glimmer Cape
Despite being one of the most overpowered items in the game, Glimmer Cape is not that popular among PUB players. This item is almost always bought by supports because it is relatively inexpensive. That said, the item gives +20% Magic Resistance and allows the hero to become invis and gain 50% magic resistance for 5 sec after using it.
The best thing about this item is that the support player can use it for other heroes. The item also has a 600 range, so the support hero can be far from the other one to apply it.
One of the downsides of using Glimmer Cape is that the item does not have an upgrade yet. However, this might change once the new Dota 2 patch becomes available.
Dagon
There are many interesting Dota 2 items, but Dagon is in a league of its own for many reasons. A Dagon level 5 is one of the most expensive items in Dotra 2, and it costs a total of 7700 gold. Despite that, the item only gives +22 INT, 14 STR, and 14 AGI. Needless to say, you can get the same stats for much cheaper.
That said, the thing that makes Dagon so interesting is the item’s active effect. When used, the item deals 800 damage, which makes it as deadly as Lina’s ultimate. Unsurprisingly, Dagon is not something that you can use on every hero. In fact, only a few heroes can take advantage of it, and all of them are based on doing as much magical damage as possible.
Moon Shard
The last item on the list that can impact the game but not that many people use, is Moon Shard. To be fair, this item gets some time to shine but only when a given team’s hard to carry is 6 slotted. That’s because this is among the few Dota 2 items that you can actually consume.
Moon Shard costs 4000 gold and gives +140 attack speed and 400 Extra Night Vision. However, if you decide to consume it, it will give you 200 bonus night vision and 60 permanent attack speed. This might not sound like a good idea, but destroying it will free one slot. In other words, Moon Shard allows you to have an additional item to your 6 slots.
