Russia’s Team Spirit wins $18 million at Dota 2 TI10 tournament; congratulated by Putin

Team Spirit, a professional esports team from Russia, have emerged champions at the Dota 2 The International 10 tournament which concluded yesterday.

The team beat PSG.LGD in the finals, taking home the lions share of the prize pool money..

As champions, Team Spirit will take home a whopping $18,208,300 in prize money, while PSG.LGD takes home $5.2 million.

This year, TI10 spotted its largest prize pool ever for any international Dota 2 tournament, which stood at a total of $40 million.

And because Team Spirit is based out of Russia, the country’s president Vladimir Putin released a statement congratulating them for being the country’s first-time champions.

“I congratulate you on your well-deserved victory at The International 2021 Dota 2 World Championship. On the way to the final, you demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities and cohesion, and in the decisive match, which became a real test of skill and character, you managed to concentrate and seize the initiative from strong rivals at the most crucial moment. In fact, we have proved that our esports athletes are always focused on results and are able to conquer any peaks.”
