The Professor Layton games are seen by some as the pinnacle of mystery games with excellent presentation, some ingenious puzzles and compelling storylines, so it is great to see that the long-running series is being resurrected on the Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo eShop listing for the new Professor Layton mystery from Level-5, Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, states that the franchise has shifted over 18 million copies worldwide. The Layton series made its debut with Professor Layton and the Curious Village in 2007 on the Nintendo DS system. Professor Layton and the New World of Steam doesn’t have a set release date at present, but it is will be a Nintendo Switch exclusive.
