Each year Japanese gaming magazine and website Famitsu asks developers about what their plans are for the coming year and this year the head of the Sonic Team, Takashi Iizuka, was asked about what the Sonic Team has in store for gamers in 2023. Mr. Iizuka says that 2022 was a the biiogest year in Sonic the Hedgehog’s history and that they are “preparing a second wave” of content for 2023. SEGA has already announced that there will be additional content coming to Sonic Frontiers next year, but he says that there’s “a lot more outside of that, so please look forward to it.”
Takashi Iizuka’s Ambitions for 2023:
“This past year was the biggest year in Sonic history, including the release of the movie sequel, new titles Sonic Origins and Sonic Frontiers, and the Netflix animation Sonic Prime. We are preparing a second wave to keep the fans happy and maintain that momentum going into 2023. We already announced additional content for Sonic Frontiers, but there is a lot more outside of that, so please look forward to it.”
