Nintendo has revealed its quarterly financial results for the first nine months of the fiscal year which ended on 31st December, 2021. During the financial results the Kyoto-based company revealed that it has now shifted 103.54 million Nintendo Switch systems since the console launched in March 2017. This means that Nintendo Switch worldwide sales have now surpassed the ultra-popular Wii console, which makes the Switch the best-selling Nintendo home console ever. The Wii launched in 2006 and sold a worldwide total of 101.63 million. However, Nintendo only sold 18.95 million Switch consoles during the 9 month period which is down 21.4% compared to the previous year. The Nintendo DS remains the most popular Nintendo hardware ever with a sales total of 154.02 million.
First nine months of the fiscal year console sales:
- Nintendo Switch: 11.79m
- Switch Lite: 3.99m
- Nintendo Switch (OLED model) 3.17m
