Nintendo has been spending the majority of this year releasing new profile pictures, backgrounds, and borders that Nintendo Switch Online members can get using gold coins that they can earn. These rewards are usually themed around various games, such as Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Strikers: Battle League and The Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild.
This time, however, is a rare exception. The theme for this month’s batch of Nintendo Switch Online icons is not a video game, but a gaming console. Nintendo has announced that September will feature icons themed on the NES. This includes various games that released on the console, such as Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, and Balloon Fight, but even the NES itself. The icon elements will be refreshed each week.
