Earthworm Jim 4 has seemingly been canned

There was a lot of discussion when it was announced that Earthworm Jim would be returning to the 2D platforming arena on current consoles in the form of Earthworm Jim 4. Today it seems that the project died a quiet death somewhere. The writing was on the wall for the game when the Intellivision Amico failed to materialise and the cancellation of the game is being blamed on that along with the fact that they may never have had access to the official license for the game. The company CEO told IGN in July last year that work on the gaming system was ongoing and that the trademark is very much alive, though we have heard nothing since and it seems unlikely to be released. There was also an Earthworm Jim animation in the works but nothing has materialised on that front either.
