The tech-focused team at Digital Foundry’s latest project is the long-awaited Nintendo Switch version of Hogwarts Legacy. Hogwarts Legacy is one of the games which people initially found hard to believe was coming to the Switch and the developers have done a fairly admirable job in recreating the original experience. That said, there are a range of compromises in getting the game running on Nintendo’s current platform, including additional loading screens and dips in both the framerate and resolution. Talking of resolution and framerate, Hogwarts Legacy played in docked mode tends to be 720p, though it can drop down to 540p, and when played in handheld mode, the game favors 576p, though it can dip to 360p when things get heavy. The framerate targets 30fps on the Switch, but certain situations can drop it to 20fps at times. All in all, it was clearly a difficult task bringing the game to the Nintendo Switch, but the team has done its best.
