Now that the Competition and Markets Authority in the UK has finally approved the deal between Microsoft and Activision-Blizzard, news comes hot off the press that the long-reigning CEO, Bobby Kotick, will leave the company on 1st January next year. Kotick took over the company a staggering 33 years ago, so it is a major moment. Mr. Kotick will remain CEO through the end of the year.

As the Microsoft-Activision deal closes, Bobby Kotick says he’ll stay on as CEO through the end of the year. On January 1, 2024, Kotick will depart the company he took over 33 years ago — a massive change for the video game industry
